7 Days To Register For Adidas KOTR

I registered for Adidas King of the Road 10k yesterday morning! If you haven’t signed up yet, drop by the RACE booth at the Vasquez Madrigal Building in Annapolis Street—quick. There is no deadline for registration, but slots may be filled up if you wait till race day. (See my List of Races for more info)

Oooh, the bold red singlet alone makes me jump up with excitement. It’s the first singlet that actually fits me (finally!) and, even better, it is actually wearable in a race—so unlike all my other singlets that have been unofficially tagged “pambahay” (house clothes).

Enclosed in the race packet is the route map with the start and finish line at the Quirino Grandstand. That’s reason number two why I’m all revved up for this race. All my other races were at The Fort. I think I can run the roads of Fort Bonifacio backwards already, blindfolded, with my shoelaces tied together while eating a peanut butter sandwich! Okay, if I pulled that stunt over there, I’d definitely end up in the city morgue…but seriously races in that area can get a bit predictable even for race-crazy runaholics like me.

The only thing that’s making me a bit queasy about this race is the thought of my business trip the day before. I’m going on an 8-hour round-trip to and from Pangasinan on the 30th. Gulp. Will I be able to rest well during the long drive? Will I feel strong enough when I wake up early for the race? Or, most importantly, will I even wake up? I’ll know the answers to those questions soon enough.

everybody will be in red…somebody wears pink and i’d know its jaymie…

tough route this kotr…previously done the route in milo and two other races…definitely a lung-buster…at least not like in BGC you don’t go around circles…

Guys, I will not be in pink! It isn’t my favorite color, mind you. It just turns out that those are usually the ones on sale—i guess because pink isn’t on the top of the list for many!
Yeah, this will definitely be more exciting than going around the cemetery twice!

Banggi, kaya natin yan! To be honest with you, I am not at all familiar with that area so the map didn’t faze me. What I don’t know won’t hurt me! haha
Yeah, the matching red nano and singlet should give you that extra boost of energy!

Roadrat, oh how I wish! I’m thinking if I just skip the water stations I can go for a sub 1hr so I’m taking a big bottle of water with me. Will you be there?

your 10k last time was just over an hour so you should be able to go under an hour this time. good luck! i live in baguio and am running the run for life 10k.

nope, wasn’t born with the gift to run like some runners around here. but i just enjoy running. ran a direct link 10k in makati a few years back and i think my time then was 48 or 49 mins. running a 10k here in baguio would take longer because of the terrain.

hey, all this buzz of the KOTR on these blogs is making me excited about it! hehehe and that singlet is ultra cool!

don’t worry about the lack of sleep. your adrenaline’s gonna kick in to carry you through the duration of the race. hydrate before the race, and all you’ll need is your aos bottle to allow you some sips. i’m guessing you probably lose time slowing down and breaking stride at the water stations…my 2cents from someone who’s never done a 10k race

Thanks e-rod! I hope you’re right and my adrenaline compensates for my lack of sleep (and maybe energy) from the day before. If you’re excited about this race then join Milo. There’s still time for you to save up and buy a ticket to manila! haha

See ya guys. This time I registered early enough to catch the glorious Adidas singlet. A year ago, I was one of the hundreds who was refused to be registered because Adidas ran out of singlet.

Hi there. I found your blog while Googling for the Adidas King of the Road run. I was planning to register for it (my first run sana), but I found out about it just a couple of days ago and I was swamped with work (yay for 14-hour workdays).

Anyway, I read your entry with the list of races for 2007. Thanks, thanks, thanks for posting it! I won’t let this year end without me participating in one.

I hope you’ll do well at the Adidas run today. That’s all.

Hi there! Also found your blog while Googling for the KOTR. You got a very cute, interesting, insightful blog. It was my first time to do a 21k this morning and it felt just AWESOME.
