oh my, 2 weeks without running?!? that'd drive me up the wall!
continue on with your yoga/pilates, and add some swimming too, that'll get your heart pumping!

good luck but don't rush it...

I know what you feel. I'm sure in time your knee will heal. And you will be able to run your best. I do believe in God's healing power so let me pray for you: Lord I pray that you heal Jaymie's knee and bless her with more PRs in the future. I pray that you would always aid her during her recovery. This we ask in Jesus' mighty name. amen.

ms.jaymie, yup. for the meantime, remove the strain from your knees. whilst i was injured, didn't run as the doctor advised. but he allowed me to swim..so there..go go! do some laps now, and guaranteed..the "jello-look" and the crankiness won't even dare knock your doors :-) tell me the magic concoction, if there is ok?

uyyyy!!!! beginner's tri in alabang! :)

it really takes time and even more dedication in this kind of situation. It'll be frustrating and again even more frustrating as days pass by without a workout and without a run. You will even hate people that you see running around while you are stuck on your bike doing your cardio workout. Tears will start to form when you see your gear shiny and clean. And you will surely cry when you take that first few steps and strides. not from happiness but from the pain it will cause. Again, you have to take it slow and just be consistent with training. You will be back hitting the ayala alabang roads in no time.

jaymie,
as the old runners say, listen to your body.
note of the different signs.
parang kotse yan, kailanga din ng rest.
anyway, as of now breakdown maintenance ka . . . next time practise . . . preventive maintenance.

take is easy, bike muna, walk . . . then RUN again!

Jaymie - did they adjust height of the saddle whey you rode the exercise bike. If it is too low it will put too much strain and hurt your knee even more.

Have your gym instructors set it to the right height. At full extension your leg should only be slightly bent.

Also please use light resistance and spin at 80 rpm. Strap on your feet and when you cycle try to maintain constant resistance. You pull and push with your leg. Most people just push down and they don't pull. You can ask your cyclist friends to give you tips.

Remember light resistance.

I hope you recover fast.

Regards Mark

Joeupcm, it wasn't even 20 mins. on the bike. That was my total for the week. So it was 5 mins each time! Argh. My old doctor concluded I had a meniscus problem just by feeling my knee then said i should have arthroscopic surgery. My therapists now are quite surprised he didn't even do an MRI.

Master Mon, 60 days! That's toooooooooooooooooooo long! Hay naku, I shall shift to swimming in the meantime. As for you, 48 ka na pala. Akala ko early 40s. Uuuy :)

Jaymie, if the pain is more than week old , then you really have an injury. But don't worry, you are still young. Usually at your age, the injury will take to heal for about 60 days. On the forty fifth day , you will notice that your knees is getting stronger. Iba kung 48 years old ka na like me. It seems the healing takes a year to heal. Parang sobrang bagal magrepair and i don't know if sometimes it stops repairing on a bad day. Then it resumes one week later.
