Global City Run & Big Blue Run

There are two races coming up this weekend…the 4th Global City Fun Run and the Ateneo Big Blue Run (Go Blue Eagles!)

GlobalRunPoster

As much as I love my alma mater, the hubby and I registered for the Global Run during On Your Mark last Sunday. (Ateneo is just way too far for me.) We received our singlets and race bibs for Global Run. But, there was no route map.

Thanks to Genevieve for emailing! (Thanks too to those of you who offered to send it.)

Global 10k Route

Global 5k Route

I am not that excited about this race. This is the 3rd one I’m joining as I recover from my injury (I don’t think I’m completely out of the woods just yet) and now that the thrill of racing again is slowly dying down, running a 5k at an imposed slow pace is turning out to be a bittersweet experience. On the one hand, I’m happy to run without the pain, but at the same time it’s also difficult (even painful) to stop myself from going all out. Half the time during a race I’m wishing I could just run without worries again.

Okay, I’ll stop with all this negativity; if I stay in this realm any longer my bull horns might start popping out.

See you at Global Run! Assembly is in front of Anta store at High Street.

  2. Oh, and if you wear the singlet on race day, you get a 30% discount on all Anta items.

  4. Do you know when the deadline for the registration is?

Is it a shirt or a singlet?

Hopefully we could register on time. :)

  5. Think of it as building your base back up again. I have friends here whose coaches put them on heart rate restriction as part of their training, supposedly to build up their base in preparation for speed and intensity workouts down the line. Glad you are back in the line up though. Not being able to participate at all is such a killer on the spirit.

  6. Hi TBR. I am feeling the pangs of disloyalty to my alma mater because I am joining the ANTA run inspite of the fact that I live in Esteban Abada! There is no 10K course in ADMU’s run. I have the 5K and 10K race courses which I got from Annapolis last Saturday. I can scan and email it to you tomorrow. Can I have your email address please?

  10. With all its shortcomings, mizuno timed my 10k run at 55:40. in the case of OYM, i got this reply: “we are only publishing official times of winners”. tsk tsk tsk. do i have to win this sunday’s ANTA run to be able to get my official time? see you on sunday!

  12. Superman, thanks for the offer. I’ve posted it above. Yup, the course looks flat and fast for 5k.

Lia, I like the 30% discount but no way am I wearing that cotton shirt during the race. That should slow you down a good 5 mins when it absorbs all your sweat :)

Marga, it’s okay. You’ve done your duty…you joined the aquathlon already!

Leslie, it’s a cotton shirt. Only comes in medium and large. You may call them and ask when last day for reg is. I hope you make it.

Rick, thanks for sharing. Made me feel a bit better. Sometimes I’m okay with the slow but sure progression but other times i’m super frustrated about it.

Runmd, aw such a disgrace! Just kidding! I would do the same if I was in your place. Thanks for offering but I posted it here already :)

Markfb, you running 10miles? Finally more about Anta. We were just talking about this brand this morning. I haven’t even entered their store in high street.

Skinhead, I can’t believe OYM doesn’t have the official time of all runners! This is a first!

    Annalenemb, thanks for info. :)

  14. FYI, i registered yesterday at the Anapolis area and got XL shirt for me and XS shirt for my girlfriend so think they have wide variety of sizes this time. Actually better getting shirt prior to race as you can be assured you get your right size instead of it running out.

Texted organizer yesterday and he said, deadline of registration is until this Friday only and for Anapolis registration, it is only open from 9AM- 5PM.

Hope this helps and good luck to all of us :)

  15. Are there any uphill portions for the 10K route or is it all relatively flat? Not familiar with the route at the International Schools area. Thanks.

dennis said on Apr 16 08 at 1:12 PM Reply
  16. yah flat but same route for the 10k runners.. :-( baka puro bottle neck yan.. hehehhee…

  17. good for you you’ve started running again…i still cannot…

my arm is off the sling but it still hurts with some activity and tension, so running is definitely not in the works for now…maybe middle of may or early june would be right to start again…

and yes, because of my advanced age, i have come to realize that running the 5k is much better than killing myself in the 10k…

    so, back to my room…

  18. I swear I saw a 16km category last sunday. It couldn’t be the sugary donuts from Krispy Kreme. Can those donuts make you hallucinate? I also remember somebody giving me a flyer for a 16km run this April.

I just might end up doing our long run then. Good luck, have fun and be safe. : )

  19. Runningshield, yes I’ll be seeing you around aava. Yipee.

Dennis, thanks for info. Argh, to think I registered a week ahead and I still didn’t get my size. Ang dami ko nang pambahay shirts :)

    Superman, woohoo super fast!

Hitme, 5k is tougher for me than 10k that’s why I dislike it. 10k is much more relaxed and fun. Get well soon with the arm. What happened?

Mark, Coach rio might have a 10miler in June. Could that be the one? Long run again? Yup, that sounds like a lot more fun than a race actually.

  20. My officemate and I registered at the Anta Store in Bonifacio. They only had 10k race bibs left. I’m doing the 10k but my office mate is planning to do the 5k. The store clerks said that we could have her bib exchanged for the 5k on the race day itself. Can anyone confirm this?

Oh and they still had shirts in XS and M there.

Jaymie, thanks to you and Baldrunner for inspiring us to run and reach our personal goals each time. My office mates and I always rely on your List of Races for the latest skeds. See you at the race.

  21. I was told that there are 2 events at Fort this sunday. One is by Anta, the other has the 16km. Any info on the other race? The 10 mile race by Rio is in Sta. Lucia right? That should be a challenging. : )

Im joining Anta this sunday as my training group will all be there as well. We’re gonna run after for sure.

  22. Question, what is the best treatment for knee injury?

Superman143 said on Apr 17 08 at 9:51 AM Reply
  23. Malmon, it’s such an inconvenience to have to do the exchanging on race day itself. I think they should have just marked it or something. Thanks for visiting! I tried to comment on your blog but couldn’t. I think your story is so inspiring. It’s great that you’ve chosen to take up sports and put up a good fight against your sickness.

Mark, I wonder what that is. You’re sure it’s not the donuts talking? :)

Superman, depends on your what your knee injury is. If it doesn’t go away with ice and rest, suggest you visit your doctor.

  24. I called the organizers but they just couldn’t give me much information about the race. I was kinda pissed when I inquired about the race, it seems she doesn’t want to answer my queries though or just tired of my asking. :(

Anyway, does anybody know if this is a run for a cause/benefit race? I still haven’t registered yet, probably on friday (crunch time!) :) Did anybody registered at Anta trinoma? Just wondering if they still have sizes.

By the way, TBR, can i post a picture here? :)

Is everybody going to join the Runnex race on May 4?

    See you sunday, guys!

  25. Hi Jaymie,

Thanks for trying to post. :) I think you have to register with http://www.kamusta.com first to comment. Thats ok – its the thought that counts as they say. Hehe. Sana nga it’ll be a simple remarking of the bibs on Sunday.

  26. Leslie, they dont have any small shirts the available shirt size at Anta trinoma is Medium and Large. that is 4 days ago, i dont know if the small size is already availble. i guess better to call them up first before you go. Btw, the shirt is quite thin for female to wear so its better to have underneath shirt..:-) mahirap na.

  27. I just registered for me and my teammates. Using my ford’s tripmeter and garmin 305 (satellite +- 3 to 7 meters), I measured the course. Its only 9.7 and that’s from Anta and back. It may still be a few meters shorter as I wasn’t able to get the inside lane upom returning from ROX. I hope they can correct the course before sunday. 300 meters is 45 seconds to 2 minutes of your finishing time.

    Jaymie,
The coach of Ben confirmed that there is a 16k event also at the fort the sunday. Nope, it wasn’t the donuts but a real flyer that I got. : ) With all the Anta hype, there’s no info on the ‘other’ race. It must have been cancelled or moved. Don’t forget the package ha? : p Thanks

  29. Hi Jaymie, coach told me about this race but I’m scared to join a race. I feel if I am not faster after all the pain during training, I’d be super disappointed. Is this weird? Anyway congrats to Miguel and to you for influencing him to start running. I hope Anton had a great time at my house. Good luck tom.
