Fuego-Mizuno Run

Oddly, I am still in recovery mode after the Takbo Para sa Puso last Sunday. I think it’s pathetic that it’s taking my legs almost half a week to recuperate from a short 5k, but I am patiently waiting—while scratching my head, biting my nails (and soon toenails too if it takes longer), and eating loads of chocnut—for that one fine day when my legs feel light and strong again.  Uhm, I’m optimistic that The Day will be tomorrow.

In the meantime, there’s one thing—actually it’s a race—that is keeping me happy and all giddy with excitement. It’s the Fuego-Mizuno Run on June 15. This race is for members and endorsed guests only, so if you are neither one, there are two options for you:

1) Buy a club membership before June 15, or

2) Befriend a member (even if it’s just for three weeks!)

Fortunately for me, Mizuno invited me for the race. Phew… I was already going through Facebook in search of prospective Fuego-member friends.

Here are the details of the race from Coach Rio’s website:

  1. hi jaymie, good luck sa fuego-mizuno run. i heard killer hills doon, pero yakang-yaka mo yan. they held a triathlon event there last year, needless to state all the participants got slower than usual times, even the elites.

  2. It must be the intensity you put into the 5k race that is causing you the “extended” recovery period. How true then that it pays to do tempo runs, speedworks, etc in our training.

Above all, savor your victory as we runners do feel your elation. Congratulations TBR!

  5. Levy, thanks for giving me an excuse for a possibly slower time! :)

Atty Jon, thank you. Hopefully, I get to run tomorrow…even just an easy one.

Taki, how come I don’t? hahaha. Seriously, I plan to enjoy the run at Fuego. No pressures. You’re going to Ultra 101 tomorrow right? Make me kwento. I have a wake to go to so I’ll have to pass.

Marga, oh yeah, I’ll pass for DND AFP. See you at Mizuno Infinity 2? Or even better on our girls night out? :)

  7. Hi Jaymie,

I attended the Ultramarathon 101 yesterday. Suddenly doing ultras seem very interesting. Kilala mo yata yung speaker, si Neville who is the team captain of Pinoy Ultra. And he’s really humble even if he has done a feat not many can do.

Ultramarathon is not much of a race. Finishing is what counts. Maybe we could try joining them in the upcoming events (maybe this year or next). I think they plan to run from luneta grandstand to Tagaytay highlands sometime between aug-dec. Hindi naman tuloy tuloy na takbo, meron din walk and kain ng full meal in the middle. He mentioned about some Ultramarathoners who finished even if they haven’t ran a marathon.

The best part is, you get to run for a cause. For every km you can raise funds to donate to charity. Bali, all their organized ultra runs are all for a cause. :)

  9. A funny thought just popped in my head…

    …Fuego-Mizuno Run meets 300…

    Captain: They look thirsty!
King Leonidas: Well, let’s give them something to drink! To the cliffs!
    :D

  10. We saw the route yesterday. Great place to do hill repeats … the scary part … you dont have to go down the hill to do your repeats. Sagana sa hills. See you guys at Fuego!
