Nike Human Race, Anyone?

Nike_Human_Race

On August 31, 2008, Nike will be conducting The Human Race, a 10k run to be done simultaneously in 25 cities around the the world.

Here in the Philippines though it seems as if they’re still gathering a list of interested participants before they organize the Manila leg.  (What for?!  Singapore is all set to go!)

If you’re interested in joining, you should raise your hand (perhaps a bit useless if you’re not within sight of any Nike manager), post a comment here, or email feedback@runrio.com to let them know you’ve actually started training already.

As for me, I only have one thing to say to Nike people:  Just Do It!

* Thanks to Passion Runner for info.

(the other bigger size for female is finish). my question is. can SHE wear a MEN’s race tee and attend the race? i understand that a female can register with a men shirt. but is that allow?

  21. Nike Philippine market not profitable?

Well, if you really just want to run, check out the Nike site (http://nikeplus.nike.com/nikeplus/humanrace/index.jsp) — be warned though, if you want to be counted you’ll have to of course purchase a Nike Sports Band or iPod Kit ;)

Else, JUST DO without IT (Nike gadgets & sponsorship) and run with a friend like any other day.
    :D

  22. Oh!!! … I forgot, TBR, I already registered – thank goodness Philippines was under the country list :D

And for those curious whether it’s a synchronized time, I guess not, there were no mention of time in the site, but there is a countdown for number of days and kilometers for the run.

Assuming it will be synched – I suppose Oregon will be the primary city (Nike HQ) :D and we’ll be running in the evening? – that is IF

Oh well, I guess we’ll find out IF Nike RP will get organized OR within the last 24 hours of the Nike Countdown Clock.

    Ciao!

  24. hi br, with blogs such as yours and bald runner’s and marga’s, etc. and the running forums, who needs to read about running in the broadsheets? thanks!

roadrat said on Jul 17 08 at 8:11 AM Reply
  25. Ive been waiting for this since Nike announced it last month. Philippines was not listed in the 25 cities but they said you can still be counted by running on 08-21-08 with a Nike+Ipod.

I saw their booth during the One La Salle run thinking they have info about this. Mukhang wla pa yata. Keep us posted.

  26. TBR, I really hope the Philippines gets it. There’s a great enthusiasm for running there. The bloggers know it, runners know it and I know it! With Coach Rio organizing, fantastic!

I felt that San Francisco was snubbed. Austin, TX? (I’ve been there and ran) You’ve got to be kidding!

Also Portland (Nike HQ) is not on the list. That’s a snub in itself.

That’s okay though. San Francisco is, in the top three (Big Sur and NYC), the most scenic marathons in the United States. BR and Johnny will confirm this to all of you when they complete their runs!

sfrunner said on Jul 17 08 at 9:55 AM Reply
  27. I am so game for this!!! 4 of us in the group already confirmed for this run…Orgainzed run should be good but in case that doesn’t pan out, we will just run somewhere in Fort with our Nike+. Let’s all run together! :)

  28. Do we need an ipod and the nike plus attachment for this race? My ipod nano was broken a few months ago during the first mizuno run and apple won’t accept it for repair, even though it’s under warranty. I hope I can still join this race even without my nike plus!

  29. roadrat sir, please come on over to manila! bring your running friends! by the way i think the baguio milo half marathon is a month earlier than last year’s run right? see you soon sir perhaps in the human race run?

hey sfrunner, did you watch the escape from alcatraz tirathlon june 8th? missed watching due to too much jaigermeister bombs! haha i agree, sfo one of the more scenic marathons…thats next on my list after san diego…maybe in the years to come…nyc run? maybe in my dreams…haha

mond said on Jul 17 08 at 12:39 PM Reply
  30. Hey mond, San Diego is a good one and I put it in my top five. I didn’t get a chance to watch Escape From Alcatraz this year. That one is awesome.

I’ll be running in the Los Angeles Nike event on 8-31!

sfrunner said on Jul 17 08 at 1:07 PM Reply
  31. Go! I hope it becomes a premier running event. How about staging it every year?

  32. Yes!!! Go!! Just Do it nga!!! What’s so hard about that? hehe.. JUST DO IT!! Impossible is nothing!! :P

aldzheimerz said on Jul 17 08 at 4:54 PM Reply
  33. Look at it this way, even if we (Phil) weren’t included in the race cities, we can all still run together on race day. It’s also a great way to finally meet the rest of the online runners. =)

  37. Good luck to all of you! I love to join but as the saying goes… “the spirit is willing, the body is weak” . I’m trying my very best to be injury-free. I already registered for the Milo Run this Aug. 3. I can’t possibly run a race before that date. I admire Johnny (Are you sure your bday is June 3, 1958?) coz his body doesn’t seem to mind!
