hey TBR congratulations! you're right about the triathlon (sprint) being fight fight fight all the way...cause thats exactly why you're the bullrunner too...the cliche in triathlon that says its bathe (swim),rest (bike), and run (run) is meant to intimidate us running purists especially marathoners that after 6 to 8 hours of swimming and biking (IRONMAN) you approach the marathon portion with fresh legs BUT thats because you trained to be fast all the way swimming and biking and still have the energy for the marathon and finish as if you didnt swim and bike at all...thats why i have a lot of respect for the sport...but still, RUNNING is the key and thats where the triathlon is won...good luck with your half marathon!!! when is that so we can prepare the band at the finish...run to it...

Congratulations Jaymie. If you know of future triathlons in the Philippines could you let me know. I'd like to add a Philippines page to our site.

Congratulations to my mentor, inspiration and idol! I want to publish the interview (Jaymie's Passion) we did last year para makita ng lahat the Jaymie Then and Now. Grabe! What a big leap from ZERO sports (other than running) to TRIATHLON. Can you do it for me, Jaymie? Publish the interview here on your blog? I don't know how to do it.

Hi Jaymie, I fully empathize with you on the bike experience. If it is any consolation to you, I was much worse. Not only did I waste six minutes (!) on the swim-bike transition, I spent a good time of the bike leg admiring the dogs being walked on the road. At one point I actually slowed down to watch a beautiful pug walk! Crazy me. I now spend the post-race days finding ways to redeem myself. I am also itching to replace my MTB with a roadbike. Grrrrh..I wish I can do it again soon.

Hi Jaymie, the good thing about triathlon is that there's always room to improve in all 3 sports. You did the all-important thing of doing a first one, so the next ones will surely get better.
Btw, the most important matter for getting a road bike is "bike fit", so better get the right bike frame size for you :-) - Joma

Shoes sole partly came off but I didn't know til the end of the race or else dead meat. I'm still contemplating if a new bike is worth it. I don't know about it being an investment. How long will the ROI take? ha, ha just kidding.

Hey Jaymie, sometimes a packaged (completely assembled) tri bike may be cheaper than a road bike.. some people kasi prefer to assemble their road bikes (ie buy the parts separately). But i personally think that a road bike would be more comfortable than a tri-bike (especially during bike outs).. the performance difference would be minimal if we are talking distances of less than 40k (olympic distance TRI or DUATHLONS)

I got my bike from All Terra.. it's a packaged bike so it's relatively cheaper than an assembled bike. Look for EDMUND or his wife SALVE

Jaymie,

Just got to visit the blog today. Daming ng happening! Congrats on your first try on Tri!!! Very happy it was not just your event but also for hubby as well. Yan ang magandang teamwork. Checked out Harry's time, bilis ng takbo nya ha. That's around 4:06 min/km pace.
It would have made the difference if you were able to use Annie's bike instead. Mas mabilis talaga but then again, if you're safety is compromised MTB na nga lang. Maybe its time for you to enroll with Nonoy again and probably get programs na
