1st Mayon Trail Run on Inquirer

I read the morning papers, er, just this afternoon and I was glad to see photos of the 1st Mayon Trail Run on the frontpage of Phil. Daily Inquirer.  The run helped to promote awareness for climate change.

Oh boy, it looked like an awfully challenging and tiring race but I’m sure the over 150 runners who participated crossed the finish line with smiles on their faces despite the mud on their shoes.

According to Inquirer, the winners of the 18k trail run were:

MALE:

1st: Elmer Sabal (1:09:30)

2nd: Allan Ballester (1:10:08)

3rd: Cresenciano Sabal (1:10:35)

FEMALE:

1st: Leszl Gitarueles (1:32:26)

2nd: Merlita Arias (1:45:07)

3rd: Ellen Tolentino (1:49:08)

Congratulations to the winners and all the finishers!

  1. 71-yr old Vicente Caurez just proved that “Age is just a number”. Hmm…It has been 38 years since I saw the magestic Mayon Volcano. Maybe it’s time to visit it once again. Next year perhaps at the 2nd Mayon Trail Run . . .

  2. hi TBR, i also read the article this morning and medyo nainggit ako. my husband and i were supposed to be there, but we opted to run in the Botak Paa Bilisan and the Ride with Pride sa La Mesa. Medyo late kasi yung announcement nila kulang sa preparation, overlap sa mga plans namin since oct 18 is my birthday, may na plano na kami for that day. pero sure kami na kasali kami next year. Thanks for your informative blog, kasama na ito sa daily routine ko, hehehe…. ;)

    God bless.

  5. Hi Jaymie,

I joined the MTR..far from the winners, I finished a little over 2 hours..It was a punishing terrain..but the fun and new friends are way hotter than the lava..I took a lot of pics..so if you want some I can send them..not really good pics though because I was running while taking them. tons of stories to tell..
