Run For Your Life – Mt. Pinatubo

Run For Your Life

The Pinoy Ultra Runners are at it again. This time, they’ll be running from Sta. Juliana, Pampanga up to the crater of Mt. Pinatubo and back for a total of 55km to raise funds for their favorite beneficiary, Kythe. The run will start at 5 a.m. and end after lunch.

Proceeds will go directly to giving Kythe children a Christmas party that they truly deserve after a tough year of battling their illnesses.

The team is still accepting sponsorships and donations. They are also selling limited edition Pinoy Ultra Runners lanyards for 100 pesos. Lanyards are available in R.O.X in fort Bonifacio High Street or you can order directly. All proceeds will help the run and the Christmas parties happen.

If you are interested in helping, email pinoyultrarunners@yahoo.com or visit their websites:

  2. Lovely trail, if (as is likely with a Santa Juliana trailhead) they will follow the O’Donnell. That’s a six-hour one-way climb in itself, with an overnight pack. The surface is predominantly gravel, with some fine lahar, and should involve some bouldering at the narrow sections of the canyon.

Bring a hat in any case. The sun will be without mercy.

    Phew…it doesn’t sound “lovely” but “challenging” :)

  3. Another big run for a good cause. I wish I was there to participate but I can still contribute from here.

It would be great if you could join one of these runs while you’re on vaca here. You should schedule it next year!

  5. Aaah, I can only dream of being able to run the 55 km. I’d really like to though, since the natural atmosphere would be something I’d love to run in. I am a nature-lover (why do you think I’m COUGCAT) and runs like these seem great. Also, the SCTEX is really quiet and surrounded by majestic mountains and abundant trees everywhere I looked one time I went to Subic…I wish I could run that. :-)

Cougcat, you have a whole lifetime ahead of you. At the rate you’re going I won’t be surprised if you’ll be running ultras before you turn 20.
