TBR in Sunday Inquirer Magazine

Guess who’s on today’s issue of Sunday Inquirer Magazine?

The article below is about how I successfully recruited hubby into the world of addictive running. Er, I mean, how running has become a part of our lives. Thanks to Joy Rojas (yes, of Takbong Pangarap fame) for the wonderful article…

The next article is about the 9 top running routes and 5 bloggers/websites, namely Ben, Takbo.ph, Running Shield, Bald Runner, and TBR. Thanks to Leica Carpo for the feature!

Congrats to good friend Ben Chan (Photovendo) whose photos practically filled the entire magazine!

  3. Congratulations on the inquirer article. First time I visited your blog. I gather that you run inside Ayala Alabang village, from the photos. What is a good 10k route in the village?

  8. Great photos and articles. I have never been this excited lately to read my copy of the Sunday Inquirer Magazine. I took a peek at it before going to the race and savored the features as I devoured post-race breakfast. :-)

  14. I live along Maria Cristina st! My 5k route takes me down Madrigal, right on Univ., right Acacia, then back up to Madrigal. My long run takes me around Country club drive via the more challenging uphill route–thats about 8.2k back to the house. What is the diagnosis on your knee btw? I’m an orthopedic surgeon

  15. I suggest you try the following exercise, to stretch out that iliotibial band. Lie down on your side and slowly abduct the affected leg, with your knee flexed about 90 degrees. When your thigh has been abducted around 45 degrees, slowly extend your knee. This will stretch out that tight itb, and strengthen the muscle which is connected to the itb, which is the tensor fascia lata. That uphill stretch along country club drive is really murder, but once you’ve reached the end of it-hayyy sarap..

  16. Needless to say I read the articles on last Sunday’s paper that is why I’m posting here.

Can someone point me to where I can learn proper foot landing? Many say that I should land mid-foot/forefoot. But I always land on my heels and have a very, very hard time landing mid-foot/forefoot.

I do land mid-foot/forefoot when I do speed intervals but when it comes to slow running, I always land heel first.

    Help!

    Thanks!

  22. Hi jojo, thanks for dropping by. I start at San Juanico so it may not be a good route for you. San Juanico-Maria Cristina-Univ ave-Cuenca-Country Club-Madrigal-San Juanico.

You could also make two loops around Alabang Country Club. Pretty challenging route if you climb Country Club Drive.

Just get a Garmin or Polar so you can run freely around the village, creating a new route everytime you run. That’s what I do sometimes :)

  32. Mikey, friend ka talaga hahaha.

Honestly, I have nothing against Tweetie de leon; I think she’s beautiful and intelligent. But, I thought it would’ve been better if they put a more experienced runner on the cover (e.g., Leica Carpo, Ani de leon, etc). It was a running issue and they chose someone who just started running in January!!! Well, i guess it was some nike press thing. :O

  33. Jojo, don’t you just love that uphill? :)

Two doctors have confirmed it’s ITBS. Both have allowed me to continue running but doing so for the past 2 months hasn’t helped me recover at all. I have nodules on my ITB that have to be massaged by next week. Hopefully that’ll do the trick and get me back into running again.
