Good Luck to Boston Marathon runners!

Something big is happening this Monday.  Aside from my much needed makeover (I’m finally going to get a haircut and coloring, something I haven’t had time to take pleasure in as running and therapy comes first in this woman’s life), the prestigious Boston Marathon will take place in the U.S.

I’ll be rooting for my idol, Kara Goucher. Just love the way she runs and carries herself.  I’ll keep myself updated via Runner’s World early next week and pray that they feature it in Balls channel. Phew, good thing the sched doesn’t conflict with American Idol..hah.

Good luck to sisters, Leica and Amanda Carpo and a new reader of this blog, Raffy, as well as other Pinoy runners who made the cut!  We’ll be cheering for you in spirit!

  2. It would be nice to hear from your blog (if possible) a report of how Pinoy runners performed in Boston. If you remember, you gave us a few posts of how our kababayans did in the last New York City Marathon, and we enjoyed reading them. Have a good weekend. :)

  6. Dear TBR,

Kathryn Switzer, the first woman ever to “officially” run in the Boston Marathon and is one of those responsible for the inclusion of the women’s marathon in the 1984 Olympics was supposed to release the soft-bound version of “Marathon Woman” during the 2009 Boston Marathon.

This memoir is a must read for women runners of today. It will tell you how only 30 years ago, women were not allowed to participate in long-distance races the way we do today.

Kathryn’s story is also inspirational for “mere mortals” like us especially because she’s not a naturally-gifted runner, but with lots of spunk, determination and training, she was able to run sub 4 and sub 3 in the big city marathons.

I hope you get a copy, if you haven’t already. Maybe you can blog about this book too.

    Best regards,

    Haide

  7. just got back from the 113Boston Marathon ,finished time 3;39;25 got trouble at mile 18 head wind . Boston course alot of down hills very hard for the quads and then gives you 3 hills when your quads are so tired. On way to the newtons hills i decided not to run Boston anymore ,but runners have short memories as soon i cross the finish line iam planning to go back for the 3rd time.
