The folks over at Second Wind Running Store sent this and asked me to zip my mouth shut. I ain’t telling (unless you bribe me with a dozen kiwis, my new favorite dessert).

Can you guess what they have in store for runners on November 14?

The Rescue Run

Monday, 12 October 2009  |  Race Reports

Runners are powerful people. Not only can they run long and far, but together they can make a difference.

The Rescue Run, a no-frills run with 100% of proceeds for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy, was held last October 10, 2009 at SM Mall of Asia. Over 500 runners came to donate and run.

Total cash raised: P90,700. Plus, a lot of relief goods were collected and subsequently delivered to victims in Taytay, Rizal where relief operations had not arrived yet.

Total cost for organizing: P0. All efforts were voluntary. All resources were donated.

Thank you to all the rescue runners—participants and volunteers—who made a difference that day!

The Rescue Run Race Map

Here’s the race map for THE RESCUE RUN tomorrow.

TRRracemap

Remember: 100% of proceeds go to the victims of Ondoy, so the more runners, the merrier are those who were affected by the storm.

If you haven’t registered yet, you can still sign up at Second Wind, Alterra, or ROX. There’s also onsite registration tomorrow. I’ll probably be the one to collect the donations from you.

Looking forward to see you all there!

For more info, visit The Rescue Run website.

The Perfect Student

Friday, 9 October 2009  |  Bullish Insights

Oh boy, I’m going to miss Run Radio again tonight. Two Fridays ago, I went on leave for Little Miss Bull Runner’s Birthday. (Family first!)  Then, last Friday, it was Typhoon Pepeng’s day.  (Safety first!)  Tonight, I can’t make it yet again as I’ll be at the Philippine Blog Awards where I’ll serve as judge and presenter of the Sports Category, the same category this blog won last year. (This is a first!)

What I haven’t been missing at all are my training runs and workouts.  So, on that front, I am the perfect student. (Fine, not that perfect since there’s a bit of whining involved when it comes to those planks…argh!)

MON: strengthening and core exercises at the gym
TUE: 10 min warm up, 2 x (4×400) at 4:50 min/km, 10 min cool down at the track
WED: REST
THU: 2k warm up, 12k tempo at 5:40 min/km, 1k cool down
FRI: strengthening and core exercises at the gym
SAT (plan): TRX
SUN (plan): Milo 21k

I’m just hoping my work schedule will allow me to remain consistent with my workouts until Marathon Day.  If not, I will definitely try my best to squeeze it in!

P.S. THE RESCUE RUN tomorrow.  Hope to see you there!

P.S.S. To Run Radio peeps tonight: Marga, Jay, Bards, and Vimz, good luck and have a great time!
