MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE

JAYMIE2

They say “You’ll never forget your first.” And, when it comes to my first marathon, it is definitely true.

When I crossed the finish line at my first marathon at QCIM, the feeling was overwhelming and unforgettable.  Going a step further, I would say it was life-changing. I found a new confidence and strength that I never knew existed.  I realized how through plain old hard work I could do the impossible.  Now, when the going gets tough, I just look back at that first 42km and think: If I survived that, I can do anything.

Thus began my dream to inspire others to run their first marathon, or their second, or their third.  To make others feel the same way I did.  To help them effect change in their own lives.

For the past few months, I met with key people in the running scene, the best of the best, who I thought could help me offer the best of the best for others.  And, now that dream is coming true.

By next week, I’ll tell you all about it.  It’s so good you’ll think you’re dreaming…

  4. Hello The Bull Runner.I began running at the oval in 2004 (Cebu City) but turned road running only in the last week of Nov.’09. I joined several fun run races (12K, 10K, 10K and 16K) in December and after a month’s prep I ran in the Cebu City Marathon 21K with a time of 2:14. I regularly read this blog to pick useful hints/tips ‘coz im determined to run my first 42k this yr or early next yr. Thanks for your blog.

  10. You shared your first run, I’ll share mine too. =) My first run was with the Microsoft IE at The Fort. I ran 3k. About midway of the run, I saw a guy wearing a shirt with prints at the back that says “Why do you run?” It begs a runner to ask herself this question and reflect on the reason why we, as runners, challenge our bodies in the heat, cold, rain or sunshine for the sake of another mile and sweet rush of adrenaline.

I run because running means friendship and discipline to me. I meet a lot of people in this sport.

I still consider myself a newbie in the runners’ world. Though I haven’t received any awards for running and though I know I am not yet, NOT YET =), one of the best in this sport, my initial goal was, like yours, is to inspire people to run. That’s why I put up a runner’s club in the company I work with which we call the HSBC Runner’s Club. I am happy my first goal was successful. We just had the club’s first marathon, most are first timers, and it’s really overwhelming to see they enjoyed our first run and are excited for our future runs.

It was really great to see you Jaymie, last Jan 24 during the Run Green Marathon. You’re such a humble person. I saw you the first time during the Conquer Corregidor Run, after that I read your magazine that was given to us free, then I constantly open your site for updates. Little you did know I was inspired by you and your blogs since then.

Keep the passion alive. Your dream to inspire people came true. I’m one of those people.

    Kudos to you! =)

    • Hi Gail, it was nice to meet you at the race. I think it’s great that you had the initiative to start a club and encourage your colleagues to join the race. We pretty much do the same thing…we share our passion for running and try our best to help and inspire others to fall in love with the sport. Keep up the great work!
