About The Bull Runner

TBR_CCD2

I am Jaymie a.k.a. The Bull Runner. Nope, I am not a matador (duh). I am a 30-something wife and mother of two based in Manila, Philippines who is passionate about graphic design (my day job), baby sign language (my weekend job), macs, oatmeal, peanut butter, painting, and last but not the least, running.

In December 2006, after a year of walking on my beloved treadmill, I decided to increase the pace. The faster I went, the more I enjoyed it. When I started to run, I didn’t want to stop. Since then, I’ve been running four times a week and, were it not for my delicate knees, I would run farther and longer. I enjoy my weekend runs the most: a long run on the road where I take in the scenery and allow my mind to wander aimlessly while my feet do all the work.

I’ve run 5kms, 10kms, 15kms, half marathons, seven marathons (unofficial QC Int’l Marathon 2009, Singapore 2010, Condura 2010, HK 2010, my dream marathon twice! (how lucky am I?!), New York 2010/2011), and California International Marathon 2011.

In 2012, I took on a new challenge: triathlons. The Bull Runner now swims and bikes, too!  I’ve joined Tri United 1 and 2 and I’m currently training for Ironman 70.3 Cebu.  Open water and fast wheels scare me to death, but, it’s these new challenges that make me feel more alive.

In the long run (no pun intended), my goal is to run the best marathons the world has to offer (Paris, Big Sur, and Tokyo sound good!) and simply go where these stubborn feet take me!

I want this blog to grow as I do when it comes to running. In these pages, you’ll find everything about running (and triathlons)—from my coach’s tips to the next best marathon in Manila (see my List of Races) and beyond. If it’s about running then I shall write about it here.

So enough of the warm up. Come on and run with me.

  2. Hi Ma’am Jaymie! My organization is organizing a fun run as part of our fundraising project. We are not professional organizers at anything, much less fun runs. What are the standard do’s and don’ts when organizing a run, especially on the event day itself? And what other tips do you have for us? Hope to hear from you! Or you can send me an email! :)

  5. Hi Jaymie! I just finished reading the latest issue of Runner’s World Philippines. Your story inspires me a lot.=) I’ve been hooked in running for over a year now and was able to join a 16km run. Hope I could do a full marathon in a year or two from now. God bless and continue inspiring others. =)

  6. You inspire me. I was just searching info about the Ironman70.3 (that’s about to happen a few hours from now here in Cebu)when I came across your website. I’am amazed that despite your work and family you still can run a race. Im so happy that there’s still hope for my dreams to come true, that its never too late to do it. Keep on posting please. The world needs someone like you.
