Now in Manila: Aetrex Lynco Orthotics

Sunday, 11 March 2018  |  Gear + Gadgets

with Peter Malkin, Vice President for Intl. Business Devt. of Aetrex Worldwide, Inc.

The past 6 months since my injury, I’ve never paid more attention to wearing the right shoes and insoles. After a 3-month hiatus from running, Dr. Canlas said that the main cause of my foot problems were my bunions which were exacerbated, get this, not by my running shoes, but my office shoes! Who would’ve thought, right?
So, I went on a shopping rampage for wider office shoes and insoles that could fit into regular shoes. I successfully found replacements for my ballerina shoes and heels as I switched to comfy loafers (3 of them lol). But, I couldn’t find insoles that could fit into my loafers. Until Aetrex. (more…)

We launched the site just in time for the online sale of our 2018 Limited Edition Forty Freakin’ Two shirts.  These shirts are our annual tradition for TBR Dream Marathon, but each year, we try to improve on the quality and design of the shirt.  I must say this edition is my fave!  Forty Freakin’ Two shirts were designed by TBR Alumni Ricky So and printed by Team Manila.  Grab your shirt now before they sell out!

Forty Freakin’ Two Shirts – 2018 Limited Edition

Saturday, 3 February 2018  |  Gear + Gadgets

What started out as a joke to have a “Forty F@c&#in’ Two” shirt was transformed into this and turned out to be a crowd favorite. It’s practically TBR tradition to have our Forty Freakin’ Two shirts every year… and we couldn’t let 2018 pass without one! This limited edition shirt was designed by our TBR Dream Alumni Ricky So and produced by Team Manila for us.

We’re super excited for its release on Feb 7 at TBR Sun Life Dream Marathon Send Off Party. They go on sale that evening for everyone to purchase. Non-Dreamers will be allowed to purchase too. If you can’t make it, have someone else buy it for you because we expect these shirts to go quickly.

Shirts will be sold online on this site the following day, Feb. 8. Stay tuned!

Here’s To More Trail Runs… with Salomon!

Saturday, 6 January 2018  |  Gear + Gadgets

I have always loved the great outdoors. And, as much as I wanted to join trail runs, the thought of braving through hours of traffic to and fro and my forever busy sched always stopped me from indulging in this.  Last year though, I joined two Dirt School events led by Coach Ige Lopez and enjoyed myself immensely.  (Yes, despite the limatiks!)  For 2018, I resolved to join even more trail runs.  In fact, I was eyeing the Rizal Mountain Run as my first race for the year.  Unfortunately, my stupid bunion still won’t let me run.

Funny thing is, I think the good people at Salomon read my mind.  They sent over their newest shoe for me to use for my trail runs this year, Salomon Sense Ride!  Honestly, I’m still loving my Salomon Speedcross from 2017, but, hey, I truly believe that one can never have too many run shoes. Let’s Talk about Poop… and my new Squatty Potty!

Tuesday, 26 December 2017  |  Gear + Gadgets

As a runner who engages a lot with beginner runners, I have often been asked this question, some ask it matter-of-factly as if it was a business dealing while others giggle with embarrassment as soon as the words leave their mouth. The question is: “How do you get yourself to poop before an early morning run?” There are other variations to the poop question: “Do you poop before a run?,” “What do you do if you feel like pooping at a race?,” “Can I eat fiber before a marathon or will that make me poop?” Aaaanyway, my point is, for the past decade I’ve been running, I almost always get a poop question regardless of how embarrassing it may be to bring it up mainly because poop is a serious matter especially for us runners and health enthusiasts.
