Regional Races, Running Events
Tanay mountain ranges are the last line of defense of Metro-Manila against the strong typhoons, storms, and flooding but it is pitifully balding because of indiscriminate slash and burn practice of upland dwellers who have no other recourse for livelihood but to cut trees for charcoal making and burn mountain for planting of rice.
Pimco Sporting Events advocacy is to help in the revival of Tanay Mountains, promotion of Agri-forestry for sustainable forest management giving jobs and development to upland communities through upland agriculture, tourism, and basic infrastructure.
We are introducing:
“LOVE A TREE”– TANAY TRAIL HALF-MARATHON
It will be held on February 25-26, 2012 starting with camping and outdoor activities on Feb. 25 with tree planting on the first day and culminated by the Trail Run in the morning of the 26th traversing the foot of the hills, mountains, and rivers.
This is the first time that environmental care camp will be held simultaneously with a Marathon to bring about maximum awareness on the state of forest management and plight of the upland communities where poverty is most felt.
Join environment care camp, enjoy the mountains and outdoor activities then hit the trail to race for the 1st Tanay Trail Half-Marathon Championship – “Marathon King/Queen of the Mountains”
