Cordillera Mountain Marathon: The Highest Trail Marathon in the Country

Tuesday, 4 November 2014  |  Race Announcements

Cordillera-Marathon

Wow, every now and then there comes a race that excites me. This one is one of them. The Cordillera Mountain Marathon: 42k Sky Marathon and 11k Trail run. (Make sure to watch the video below.)

The marathon 42k and the 11k trail run will be the highest running event in the country, with over 60% of the course above 2000m above sea level. The course will take you through some of the most pristine areas in the world, in a region known as one of the most biodiverse on earth. The mountain is also the home of the Kalanguya and Ibaloi Ethnolinguistic groups and will showcase their rich culture and heritage tied to the the mountain of the gods. (more…)

Ayala Land and R.O.X. Tie Up for Trail Running

Wednesday, 5 June 2013  |  News + Promos

This weekend, Ayala Land and R.O.X. are staging the Explorac Trail Run in Porac, Pampanga. For now, sadly, it’s an invitational event only. Even sadder, I can’t make it, but my crayzee and super fast ultramarathoner friend, Reylynne dela Paz, will be our official Run-porter for this race and she’ll be taking photos and sharing her race experience by next week. (Stay tuned!) The good news is that there will definitely be more events in this new trail running venue, especially with such great companies to support it.

I heard that the course has a flat to hilly terrain and majority of it is hard surface. The trail features wet/dry river bed, if not all, are heavily silted by mudflow due to Mt. Pinatubo’s eruption way back in 1991 and succeeding lahar flows. In some areas, a moderate steep climb will be experienced along the rough terrain portion and huge lahar track will potentially challenge a runner’s trail running skills. There will be opportunities to run under the SCTEX bridge and pass beside waterfalls.

Woah. Sounds like a great adventure. I can’t wait for future events in Porac!

If I wasn’t running (literally) all over the place this weekend—30km Bull Session on Saturday and a 10k Edsa Run on Sunday, to be exact—I would’ve given this trail run, Dirt Fest 2, a shot. Check it out if you’re available:

Road X Trail – Postponed to Jan/Feb 2011

Tuesday, 14 December 2010  |  Race Announcements

Finishline announced that the ROAD X TRAIL series has been moved to January and February 2011:

Cycling – From December 11, 2010 to February 13, 2011, Sunday morning
Running – From December 18, 2010 to January 15, 2011, Saturday afternoon
Duathlon – From December 19, 2010 to January 16, 2011, Sunday morning

Some runners must’ve been saddened by this news.  As for me, I’m overjoyed.  No way could I fit this trail run into my busy holiday sched.  But, with the postponement, I must admit that I am seriously considering it, especially since it’ll be a good way to burn the excess calories from the holiday bingeing.  Oh, this also gives me enough time to dust off my North Face trail running shoes.  Hope to see you there!
