2010 Goals

“Consider goals as launching pads to something far greater.”
– Cyndi Laurin

I began last year’s post with the quote above. And, this is how I intend to start 2010 and the rest of my running years thereafter as well. Forget resolutions; work towards a specific, attainable goal instead. Here are my 2010 goals for running:

  • To run a 4:30 marathon (4:15 would be an awesome bonus!)
  • To run a sub-2 hour half marathon
  • To run beyond 42k
  • To run any one of my dream marathons this year: Tokyo, New York, Paris, Chicago, Big Sur, or San Francisco. Another goal would be to figure out how I’ll get there!
  • To lose the 4 lbs. I gained two Christmases ago…gulp.
  • To listen to my body even when my mind says “Go, go, go!”
  • To remain consistent with 2x a week strength training (I don’t think I’ll ever learn to love the gym)
  • To eat less Cheetos Jalapenos (Lord, please help me on this one!)
  • To eat more fruits (I heart kiwis!) and more veggies
  • To drink less coffee and more tea (Starbucks’ non-fat Chai tea latte is my current addiction)
  • To drink more water
  • To blog more often
  • To visit my favorite running blogs regularly and to discover new ones!
  • To reply to all your emails/ comments (So sorry for not answering sometimes. This work-at-home mommy is always running all over the place–literally and figuratively!)
  • To launch my dream project, one that will finally allow me to use running to create some kind of positive change
  • Last but not the least, here’s a repeat goal from 2009, to continue to love running as I do now and as I’ve done since the day I started in 2006.  Some people have a love-hate relationship with running, but mine is all love. I only hope that running will love me back just the same by allowing me to run longer and faster for the rest of 2010.

Have a great 2010 to all of you!

  1. Hi Jaymie! I like your new layout. Nice goals for 2010. I’m new to running – I just started running last June and I haven’t joined any of the races yet (that’ll change in 2010). Eat less Cheetos Jalapeno…yeah, those are addicting! And unfortunately they don’t come in the small packs so once you buy a big one, you’re stuck with it. Your second to the last goal intrigued me. If you ever need volunteers for your dream project, let us know. I would like to do some kind of volunteer work for running but I don’t know where to start. Happy New Year!

  2. “To run beyond 42k” – Seriously?! don’t tease your ultra-running friends.

My vote is for the Nike Women’s Marathon! Not the San Francisco Marathon but the Nike Womens. Big Sur is also sweet but no firemen waiting for you at the finish line with a silver Tiffany necklace as your finisher’s medal. I’m aid station captain for the mile 17 and mile 25 aid station. I’ll see you.

I hate the gym but I have the same goal, sabay tayo.

My goal for 2010 is simple: harder, faster, stronger and lighter.

  3. I agree with you with that cheetos jalapeno! who would’ve thought that the slight kick of tanginess and loads of cheese can be a source of addiction!! and not to mention unwanted calories!! hehehe! happy new year!

  5. Gday! Now that’s a long list you have there but then again one step at a time! The cheetos part is probably kinda hard but if you add substantially to your mileage that takes care of everything
The water part is not hard either if you drink at least 2 liters a day like i do it’ll make up for the diuretic fluid intake i don’t take em never been a coffee lover
working for a best time comes in seconds 1 second off is good 3 is better 5 is outrageous
Big tip is core training i believe that’s where bugo squared, ralph salvador, gene olvis gets me wala akong core and speed lahat lsd 21k minimum
And in any case good luck on the list
i just probably have 3 big ones to look for improvement
sleep more crunch more and eat more healthy stuff then the longer distance will fall into place
oh and you run more you lose weight even more
    Catch you round the bend!

  6. except for the cheetos jalapeno thing which needs divine intervention, all the rest seems doable.

  9. i like your 2nd to the last goal. you’re really a kind hearted person. you really love running. you always give your time to it. and you always give something to the runners. the latest, the nike lunar elite. and the free tickets to corregidor last year. thank you for being so generous! count me in also for your dream project if you need volunteers.
