“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.”
– Bob Moawad

Oh what a journey it has been, 2015! This year was about independence, achievement, strength, and empowerment for me. Such strong words, you say?! After surviving life’s toughest challenges in the past years, 2015 was about pushing forward, rediscovering myself, and learning that, at the end of the day, I’m pretty darned happy with where I am and who I’ve become.

Here’s my best of 2015:

1) February: The Bull Runner – Unilab Active Health Dream Marathon 2015 where our 6th batch of Dreamers became marathoners! This was by far the wackiest and funniest bunch of all and I was thrilled to see them succeed! It was also the first batch where we didn’t have to sweep any runner from the course!

2) April: I still can’t believe my biggest dream ever came true. I finished Boston Marathon and became the first Filipino to complete the World Marathon Majors. Thank you so much to Gatorade (Tony Atayde, Angel Motomal, and Ton Gatmaitan) for making this possible!

3) May: My 13th Marathon: Buffalo Marathon in New York. My son Anton ran 5k there too! Thank you to Unilab Active Health for making this possible!

4) June: It was an honor to be awarded among 8 Bravo Empowered Women by Security Bank and Zonta Club of Makati & Environs.

5) October: My 14th Marathon: Osaka Marathon in Japan was one of my more memorable runs. It was a fantastic run in one of my favorite cities. And, the food… the food!

So, thank you 2015, for showing me joy through the pain, laughter beyond tears, and shiny, new medals after hundreds of kilometers of hard work.

Thank you also to all my friends and family who have been there. And, of course, thank you to my sponsors: Unilab Active Health, Gatorade, Fitness First, Specialized, Peak Form Manila, Otterbox, and Oakley.
