Aaah, the life of a woman. They say we shouldn’t try to be perfect; we shouldn’t try to be Superwomen because there’s no such thing; and we should cut ourselves some slack once in a while. I agree…sometimes! Most of the time, I would have to admit that we are in fact perfect multi-taskers who can balance family, career, and caring for ourselves all at one go. Yes, we are Superwomen. And, yes, we manage to look good while we’re juggling all the chaos in our lives.

If you agree with me—fine, even if you don’t—it would be great if you could make it to this talk on Women, Work, and Wellness on November 23, 2011 at Rockwell Tent, Makati. It should be interesting (and fun) to hear women coming together to talk about balancing career, fitness, and everything else in our lives. Host is one of my favorite mommy-athlete celebs Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and speakers, Miriam Quiambao, Mutya Laxa, and myself.

And now for our free running talks.

See you for the first of our series of running talks: BULL CIRCLE 1: Wednesday, October 26, 2011, 7 PM at 3/F ROX, Bonifacio High Street. This will cater mainly to our TBR Dream Marathoners and will be closely linked to their training needs in the coming months, but everyone interested in running and marathoning are welcome to join. It’s free!

Speakers will be myself, Neville Manaois – Team Principal of Pinoy Ultra Runners and Technical Director of TBR Dream Marathon, and TBR Dream Alumni – Bic Ferreria and Ton Gatmaitan.

Armand and Mitch Felipe-Mendoza will also be giving a brief talk on the TBR Dream Weight Management Program which will be made available for free for only 100 lucky TBR Dream Marathoners.  We will be opening 50 slots for onsite registration during the Bull Session and 50 slots will be opened on this blog within the week.  First come first served basis.  If you are serious about nutrition and weight management along with your training for the marathon, I highly recommend you sign in to this program.  Armand and Mitch are experts in this field and you’ll be one of the few to receive this for free.

Over 200 runners, mostly TBR Dream Marathoners 2012, gathered for the first time at Bonifacio Global City last October 22, 2011 for the 1st of a series of Bull Sessions until race day on March 2012.

For the 22-week TBR Dream Marathon training program, the first 2 weeks focuses on walking.  Our head coach Lit Onrubia, Chi Walking and Running Certified Instructor, discussed proper form and technique when it comes to walking.

Hey, don’t laugh.  Proper walking is important to conserve energy especially if you plan to use the run-walk technique in your long runs and marathons—which our program highly recommends.

Coach Edward Kho led the long run-walk of 45 mins around Bonifacio Global City.  Coach Lit checked everyone’s form.

Jun and I acted as sweepers. No one gets left behind in our run clinics! (And no one gets hungry or thirsty too! Thanks to Nutribar and Gatorade!)

This is truly my favorite part of TBR Dream…Meeting our runners face-to-face. Seeing the excitement and hope in their eyes. And, knowing that we’ll see them again…and again…and again in the months to come until they cross that finish line!

Bull’s Eye: Secret Deodorant Marathon Scent

How many times in your life have you gotten excited over a deodorant?  Me?  Never.  Well, that was until last week in KMart, Guam.

Check out the deodorant my friend, Leana, recommended I purchase there.  It’s Secret deodorant – clinical strength for sports.  The scent: MARATHON FRESH SCENT.  I suppose we can use it even if we’re running less than 42k, right?  Kidding.

I wonder when they’ll come up with:

– Starbucks Long Run Iced Chocolate with Mint with cubed ice on the side you can use for your knees (Okay, bad idea)
– Milo 3-in-1 Marathon Flavor that comes with a free race kit (Now, that’s an awesome idea, right?)

  • TBR DM Official Shirts: If you haven’t claimed your shirts or wish to exchange, you can do so during our Bull Session tomorrow.
  • Hydration:  Thank to Gatorade we’ll be having a hydration station at our assembly area.
