Condura Run Q&A

Here are some questions posted on the blog comments.  Thought I’d create this post for everyone to see…

QUESTION:   I heard there are cut off times for Condura Run.  What are the cut off times?

Answer:

  • 5K: 1 hr and 30 mins.
  • 10K: 2 hrs
  • 21K: 3 hrs and 30 mins

QUESTION:  Will there be portalets along the route?

Answer:  Portalets will only be available at the start/finish line.  Race organizer Rudy B. said that they are not permitted to install portalets on the race route.

Initially, I requested Patrick C. to please put portalets along the route—at the very least at the turnaround point for the half-marathon.  He was kind enough to request Rudy B. to do the same but the permit, as stated, does not allow them to do so.

UPDATE (3/17): According to Patrick C., a portalet will now be placed on the Skyway beside the Magallanes off ramp.

QUESTION:  Where is the turnaround point for the half marathon?

Answer: It will be more or less 150 meters after the “Magallanes Exit 500 meters” sign, northbound.

QUESTION: What type of water will be provided at the stations?

Answer: Bottled water already poured into cups.

QUESTION: There are no more race bibs at Nike.  Can I still register?

Answer: Due to strong demand, the organizer ran out of race bibs at some Nike stores.  Orders have been made since last weekend.  By March 16, the main registration center, Nike Bonifacio High Street, will have adequate stock of race bibs.

Any more queries?  Let’s ask away before it’s too late!  Pressure!

we are reading the comments so that we can improve

for instance we picked up on the sponge suggestion.

ok the portalets noted on that – lets see if we can push harder on that as no one wants to do no1 or no2 – haha on the skyway…eeew. haha

  3. Huh, no portalets on the course! People will relieve themselves no matter what. You know there will be folks that will drink too much before and during the race.

  4. Portalet suggestion: Do you need a permit for portalets mounted on flatbeds and parked along the race route? This flatbeds can be considered as “race support vehicles”

  5. Question: Will distilled/purified/mineral water be used at the water stations or will they be serving the usual tap water out of a balde?

  6. The weather is expected to be HOT, HUMID, etc. How far in between will the water stations be?

  7. Cause summer is creeping and the temp & humidity could be high …

How are the medical teams spread along the route?

How will they monitor or identify if there’s an emergency?

How fast (minutes) are they expected to respond to an emergency?

In case someone (runner or spectator) encounters an emergency (runner down) what action should be taken (e.g.g run and inform nearest med personel, administer 1st aid) ?

  8. will we have race chips given to us, para ma track yung exact time. and when i ran the poland springs 8k in central park, they had portalets available. it actually was a life saver. hehehe

  9. Cloudy, but only 10 percent chance of rain. Temperatures should be around the lower end of the day’s forecast range of 25-34 C at the gun, but those still running beyond 8am would probably be dealing with temperatures in the low 30s, with humidity of nearly 80 percent. Prime candidates for heat stroke.

I remember a Makati fire truck giving free open showers along the Save the Pasig race route beneath the Guadalupe bridge last year (hint, hint).

  14. I forgot all about these races… hope I’m not too late to register. I know it’s crazy… because it’ll be my first time to run the 21k… yikes!

  15. Dear all,

this is Stefan from Negros, a German volunteer consultant in the field of solid waste management. Did register also for the run (21km, will be my 2nd half-marathon) and am looking forward to meeting all of you this Sunday.

Does anyone know whether there will be a baggage room or a place where I can leave my personal things during the race?

Thanks a lot and best of luck
    Stefan

  16. Hi,

one more question… Everyone is talking about a distance of 21k. But can someone confirm that the distance will be in fact 21.0975km, the standard half marathon distance…?

    Thanks and regards
    Stefan

  17. Hey Stefan,

Like you, I will be flying in from Cebu and won’t have a car where I can leave my things during race day. A week ago I asked TBR regarding package counters at the start/finish area and she said there will be package counters for those who need to leave their stuff during the run. Although it would be good if the condura organizers can confirm this.

    See you Sunday.

  18. Hi TBR – thanks for consolidating this!

Any chance they’ll distribute bananas or other energy snacks during the race, or should we bring our own energy gel? :-)

    See you all out there!

  19. Hi Haide,

thanks a lot! Also on the map of the venue published on the ConduraRun Homepage, you can see an area for the baggage. But did decide to bring only the really really necessary things, and carry those with me… Just to be on the safe side. Need my a relaxed mind without worrying about anything to run a good race.

All the best and CU tomorrow
    Stefan
