Condura Run 2010 Survey

The people over at Condura—specifically Ton Concepcion—are currently planning for Condura Run 2010.  (Isn’t it great to know that they’re starting this early?) They want to hear your thoughts on these points:  (Go ahead and submit your answers as a comment below)

1.  When do you want Condura Run 2010 to be held?  JANUARY 17 or MARCH 7?

Update as of May 28…Other blogs may have announced Jan. 17 as final race date. Please disregard those announcements. According to Ton Concepcion, “the final confirmation whether the run will be on Jan 17 or March will depend on the survey being done by The Bull Runner…The final announcement on the final date will be made by The Bull Runner.”

  5. My choice would be January because its cooler that time compare to March. This is because I am planning to run long distance race this time.

This is going to be my second most exciting Condura race!

Also, aside from the T-shirt that they offer I also suggest if the race organizer can produce Singlet this time! I am willing to pay extra for the nice and cool looking Condura Singlet!

Great Job! I salute the Concepcion running clan for the job well done!

  6. 1) I prefer jan 17 only because it is cooler.

    2) Wish list.
    – chip timing
    – have seeded sections. E.G. Sub 50 10k runners get a special spot closer to the start so they can go chase their PR’s. (Bay to Breakers does this)
    – AIMs status if its a marathon so that it becomes a Boston qualifier.
    – A flat fast course.
    – Please let us know the chest and sleeve length of the shirt sizes so we can reserve the correct size in the entry form.

    Thats all for now.

  8. 1) January 17 is okay – not so hot yet! Plus good training for those going to Stan Chart’s HKG Marathon

    2) Wishlist: not much from me since this year was already great, so just a couple of things:
    - Skyway was such a big attraction, so would be good to do that again for the 21K.
    - Provide singlets instead of a finisher’s t-shirt

  9. 1. When do you want Condura Run 2010 to be held? JANUARY 17 or MARCH?

    Answer:
January 17 is OK. Weather is not too hot on that time of the month.

    2. Your Wishlist for Condura Run

    Answer:
Sub-zero beer at the finish line!!Promise I won’t look for pulutan :) Obcourse, kids should not be allowed to drink there.

Timed chip to accurately record finish time, hence result should be available right after the race

    Live band every 5km.

    Free massage after the race

For marathoners, finisher’s shirt with text
“Marathoner in taper, approach with caution!!”

Mini concert before the race starts.

..I can only imagine how much would be the registration fee if these are all fullfilled*laughs*

  13. I would prefer that the Condura Run 2010 be held in March. As for my wish list: that this run would be for the benefit of the Philippine Eagle. I could also help and assist in the communication and coordination with the Philippine Eagle Foundation. To date, I have received positive feedback that they’re willing to support such venture. Other wish list would be a well organized race similar to the past Condura Runs if not better.

    Thank you.

kidding aside, i think january is an ideal time for a race. with mr. patrick concepcion and co. at the helm we can expect this race to be even bigger and better than the previous two. this could be the race that will set the bar for the succeeding races of the year. sana mahiya na yung mga patakbuhing organizers.

my wish list is similar to what the others are saying:
quality singlets, hydration and ice cold sponge stations, skyway route, 42k, medals (half a medal for 21K?), chip timing, loot bags, after race party?

  37. 1. New race venue — Tagaytay, Clark, Subic, Calabarzon or wherever their factory is located.

    2. New advocacy — whale sharks are now a tourist attraction, they are no longer cool! Adopt the Clark Aetas, the receding forest cover of the Palay-Palay mountain range in Ternate or the Ipo watershed in Bulacan, or the critically endangered Visayan spotted deer in northern Negros instead.

    3. Timing chips like those of New Balance Clark.

  43. Date –

January is ok, though the holidays might be a hassle when training. Honestly, both dates are fine, as long as we have a 42 km run!

    Wishlist –

    Longer distance – 42 km.

Corral start to avoid congestion – segregate runners who plan to race the route versus those who plan to just run it as an LSD (based on your own finishing time/goal). In Oregon, we had 2 batches – 10 mins/mile, and those slower than 10 mins/mile

KM markers or mile markers – honestly, mile markers are better because thinking in terms of ’26′ miles seems more manageable than ’42′ km.

Clear instructions for slower runners – info dissemination, if slowing down or walking, please move to the right so as not to impede the flow of the faster runners

Announcement of full name of each 42 km runner as he/she crosses the finishline (In the Eugene Marathon in Oregon, they announce your name and your place of residence just as your cross the line – so the PA fumbled with my name and then with the word, “Makati”). Proud moment there, when you hear your name after 42 kms of torture.

Pacers – for 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 and 5:30 (like the Cliff Bar Pacers found in the marathons of SFO, Big Sur, Eugene, etc.)

Instant official time receipt – yes, receipt. At The Eugene Marathon in Oregon, after crossing the finish, I was able to go to a booth, give my bib number, and, voila, they printed out a small paper (akin to a receipt), and on it are your full name, distance, split times, and OFFICIAL final time. That was a great way to validate my training and hard work for the 42. Instant OFFICIAL results!

Gun time vs. chip time – ChampionCHIP? D-tag?

    Portalets, portalets, portalets.

Loads of bananas, chips, and electrolyte drinks at the finish

Super wishlist is a (especially for those not fond of driving that early, those without reliable transpo, or not familiar with the start area) free shuttle for 42 km runners – In Oregon, several hotels offered free bus transpo for runners. Just show your bib and you’re good to go. I think Greenfield did this, near EDSA Central?

I also recommend that Patrick and Tonton get the advise of Sir Jovie (Baldrunner blog) due to his running experience.

Thanks, TBR, and more power to Patrick and Tonton!

  74. (1) January sounds good, but training during the holidays will be a challenge.

    (2) Chip timing with early-bird starts for non-competitive runners (this would spread runners over the course and decongest the start/finish); a route with more highway and less stoplights; and free food (even if it’s just bread and fruit) at the end of the race. Also, my vote goes to the technical T-shirt like the “I am Ninoy” shirt that you use (not singlet or cotton shirt).

Looks like running gear will be popular this Christmas.

  89. From a runner’s standpoint, if there’s the possibility of a marathon, half marathon or both, the January date would be better. Being told that the weather is cooler, the runners would appreciate and probably would enjoy it more. Most 21Ks and up are run during cooler months worldwide.

Yes, there is the issue of the holidays. However, having this current survey (thank you Jaymie and Patrick) would give runners ample time to prepare and to plan from an organizers standpoint.

thanks always for all the support.
