Aw Shucks! Thanks Runner’s World Philippines!

You know how it feels when someone you admire acknowledges you and your work, like a well-esteemed professor giving you an A+ or your boss tapping your back for a job well done? That’s how I felt when Marie Calica, Editor-in-Chief of Runner’s World Philippines, invited me to be on the cover of Runner’s World Philippines’ Oct-Dec 2012 issue.

Whenever I recount my story of how I started running in 2006, it always starts with an 8-week beginners’ program that I downloaded from Runner’s World.  From then on, Runner’s World became my source for all things running.  At that time, I didn’t have anyone to ask nor were there many local running blogs or websites to read, but there was RW!  It was my running bible…and it still is.

Aw, Runner’s World, it’s an honor to be featured on your pages.  Thanks for allowing me to share my story and, um, how I’m “Stub-born to Run.”  Now you know that you’re partially to blame for creating this bullish runner.

There’s an article entitled “Best of Running”…

Aaaaw, TBR made it to the list of Most Popular Local Running Blogs.  Thanks RW Philippines and those who mentioned TBR, especially those who unfailingly continue to read about all the crazy stuff I get myself into. Congrats to Bald Runner and Jinoe and Que of Takbo.ph too.

Oh, and if you do get your hands on a copy, don’t forget to read this hilarious article of Lit Onrubia, another crazy runner who ran Condura Marathon even if he was sick. Hats off to RW illustrator who gave us all a good laugh with this red-nosed caricature of our friend talking into his phone haha!…

Runner’s World Jan-Mar 2012

Friday, 27 January 2012  |  Press

Congratulations to friends, Cebu-based triathletes Noy and Amale Jopson, for their awesome feature on Runner’s World Philippines’ January-March 2012 issue.

When the hubby and I ran The Great LapuLapu Run in Cebu last 2010, it was Noy and Amale who took care of us and even found a babysitter for our kids while we ran.

It was also Amale who encouraged me to run California International Marathon with her last December. I remember her telling me in Cebu a year before CIM: “Let’s go, Jaymie! No husbands, no kids! Just us!”  Woah, I was thrilled with the idea and registered for CIM a couple of months after. Amale went on to finish CIM with a jaw-dropping time of  3:46 for her very first marathon. Amazing!

In the same issue, Runner’s World featured running bloggers in the article: Run, Blog, Inspire. Thanks to RW for including me in the lineup. Thanks to Monica Barretto too for the fun shoot.

RW featured other running bloggers: Dennis Ravanzo (Running Pinoy), Pat Concepcion (Running Shield), Noelle de Guzman (Kikay Runner), one of my dearest and most kulit friends Vima Mendoza (Kulit on the Run), one of the most humble running bloggers I know, Rene Villarta (Jazz Runner), Jinoe and Que Gavan (takbo.ph) and Cheryl Golangco (Little Running Teacher).

The feature that surprised me and I was most thrilled about was this:

How cool is this? For my little baby, The Bull Runner Dream Marathon, to be featured alongside big names such as Milo Marathon, Condura Skyway Marathon, Camsur Marathon and more made me feel like a proud mama. (Tears of joy, baby!)

Thanks and Congrats to Runner’s World for this fantastic issue!

Hey, I just heard I was featured in the Wellbeing Section of Manila Bulletin, Nov. 1, 2011.  This was about my running the Guam KoKo Road Race last October 16, 2011.  Sigh, fond memories of that rainy race. Thanks to Nina for informing!
