Mark your calendars: November 13, Thursday, 7 p.m. is the next date for Running Aid 3 at ROX, Bonifacio High Street. This time, however, it will be for the ladies! Guys are welcome to attend as long as they behave and pretend to be interested in girl talk.
Speakers will be: Elizabeth Siojo, founding member of Pinoy Ultra Runners, and The Bull Runner (who the hell is that?!) Seriously, I will try to my best to give a comprehensive guide on everything women need for running and attempt to answer questions that I myself was afraid (or embarrassed) to ask a male running friend or coach.
It should be yet another informative and entertaining talk. If not, let’s all just go out to BHS and run…tsk tsk. See you there!
The Pinoy Ultra Runners are at it again. This time, they’ll be running from Sta. Juliana, Pampanga up to the crater of Mt. Pinatubo and back for a total of 55km to raise funds for their favorite beneficiary, Kythe. The run will start at 5 a.m. and end after lunch.
Proceeds will go directly to giving Kythe children a Christmas party that they truly deserve after a tough year of battling their illnesses.
The team is still accepting sponsorships and donations. They are also selling limited edition Pinoy Ultra Runners lanyards for 100 pesos. Lanyards are available in R.O.X in fort Bonifacio High Street or you can order directly. All proceeds will help the run and the Christmas parties happen.
If you are interested in helping, email pinoyultrarunners@yahoo.com or visit their websites:
Neville and Marga of Pinoy Ultra Runners with NU 107.5 DJs. They were guests on the show last night to spread the word about the upcoming Mt. Pinatubo Run. Thanks for the plug, guys!
Once again, runners of all shapes, sizes, and experiences flocked to ROX last night for Running Aid 3 led by speakers Neville Manaois, team principal of Pinoy Ultra Runners, and Dr. Paolo Punsalan, Orthopedic Surgeon and member of Pinoy Ultra runners.
– The crowd keeps getting bigger –
– Neville Manaois discusses form –
As in Running Aid 2, Dr. Punsalan discussed proper form and technique. This time, however, Pinoy Ultra Runners effectively demonstrated gait and form using two treadmills on stage. Dr. Punsalan also provided free analysis for runners who wanted their running form critiqued in front of the audience’s discerning eyes.
I made the big mistake of showing up in full running gear as I had run 7k around Bonifacio High Street prior to the talk. Pinoy Ultra Runner Jeremy basically volunteered for me and pushed me onto the treadmill where I ran—much like an experimental hamster observed by scientists—while being interviewed by the good doctor about my form and previous injuries. Notice that I called him the “good doctor”; well, that’s because he didn’t have anything bad to say about my form. Phew, phew, pheeew!
– Trying not to make a fool of myself –
Neville Manaois covered a new topic: Troubleshooting, which was very informative as he discussed exactly what to do when little hitches such as cramps, sidestitches, etc. creep up during a run. I think I mentioned before that I enjoy Neville’s talks because most of his tips aren’t picked up from a book or the web but are gleaned from his experiences out there on the roads and trails.
Again, congratulations to Pinoy Ultra Runners for yet another successful gathering. More power to you guys.

If you’re free next Thursday, I suggest you drop by ROX for Running Aid 3.
I was pretty impressed with the wealth of information provided at Running Aid 2. According to my sources—okay fine, it was Pinoy Ultra Runners team principal and speaker of this session who informed me—that this session will be even more interesting.
They are bringing in treadmills to have lecturers comment on the running form and technique of some Pinoy Ultra Runners. If there’s time, you might be one of the lucky few who get your form critiqued by the experts (and audience as well). Hmm…now I’m not so sure if I’d like that.
Hope to see you there!
P.S. Don’t you just love their posters? Bayani Fernando should hire their designer.
