Ironman Cebu 70.3 is exactly 7 days away!  I’m pretty psyched to do the run leg for the Sun Life relay triathlon team.

Looking back at the past couple months, I’d say I’m pretty confident with my training, but I’m still nervous about my performance.  This is the first time I’m joining the relay so starting at around 10AM for a run under the intense heat of the Cebu sun is unchartered territory for me.

Cycling like a Pro at Fitness First

Now that it’s off-season for me, I feel like a kid again at the gym. Instead of sticking to a strict running program, I get to try out new activities to work out other parts of my body and also to keep things fun. Last week, I finally got to try the ProCycling classes, which are exclusive to Fitness First.

ProCycling classes are 30-minute high intensity interval cycling sessions based on the training programmes, techniques and events of 9 times World Champion and Double Olympic Gold Medalist, Victoria Pendleton. The sessions are short but intense so it’s perfect for busy people or competitive athletes who want to get a good workout in a short period of time. There are 3 kinds of ProCycling classes: Keirin focusing on improving endurance, Team Sprint for strength and power, and Individual Sprint for raw power. (more…)

Two female triathletes, Katrina Golfo and Charmagne Untalan, used to braid their hair before training and races. The braids kept their long hair in place under their swim cap, through windy bike rides, and long runs. Of course, it made them look great, too! One day, they had the great idea to offer hair braiding as a service to other fit women. They debuted at the Nike Women’s Run (see my braids here!) and never looked back. They opened their first boutique salon, House of Blow Dry, at Burgos Circle and, only recently, offered their services at Fitness First Platinum Aura where I work out. I got my hair styled with them yesterday after my speedwork! (more…)
