Global City Run Results

Thanks to Bald Runner, the Global City Run results are out. Finally! Click here to view it.

The wait was well worth it. I got the surprise of my life when I saw my time for 5k: 26.13 mins. 22nd for females and 162nd overall.

This isn’t a great time compared to all the other faster runners out there. But, I am ecstatic over it because I wasn’t even in race mode! I arrived at the run with the mindset that I would absolutely not run race pace, just 80% effort. While waiting for the gun to fire, I even stayed at the back with hubby without a strategy in mind nor a target time. All I was concerned about was running a wee bit faster to satisfy my race craving.

Oooh, these are exciting times for The Bull Runner…

BUT… and this is a big BUT…I do have my concerns over the accuracy of the results.

I checked out the time of my friend, Annie, who according to race results finished at 18.38 mins. Passing the finish line, Annie recounts that she trailed Jenny Guerrero by a few seconds. My question is: Why are the times of Jenny G. (#30), Annie A. (#31), and Ma. Alice de la Cruz (#32) all the same at 18.38? Race organizers awarded them correctly—Jenny won 3rd place while Annie won 4th—but still the time recorded was inaccurate. How do they time us anyway? Can we trust the next results that come out?

  3. Timing chip! Timing chip! Here’s one of many solutions race organizers can use. http://www.championchip.com/chips/

As I mentioned in Bald Runner’s blog, I have an IT friend who is willing to work with Race organizers to use RFID for races. No more barcodes or manual copying of time. Just your exact time, period. I was told that RFIDs at cost is only 12 pesos if sourced from China.

  5. May I ask if you were able to get the results of the On your Mark race? I have been trying to search for it but to no avail. I even asked a friend of mine from GMA 7 but to no avail.

    Thanks

  8. Accuracy was off – but I guess the most important thing is taking your own time and keeping a log vs run organizers time, from here you can identify the +-% and also keep tab on which organizers keep the best time.

    Till the next tun!!!

  9. Lesson learned from runs: always have a back-up timer. not all organizers provide official times.

  10. The day after the race Rudy B. of RACE phoned me and asked me what time i finished . i told him base on my GF 205 i finished in 49.45 . then he told me there was something wrong with there timing device, i think it crashed so they had to phone several runners and ask them there times so they can average it. base on there Global official results i came in 49.35 pweded na.
The only solution to this problem is to have a timing Chip no other way.

  11. hey mark this is coach rio. im interested sa timing chip. kindly give my num to your friend 09063143807 or my email run_rio10k@yahoo.com. Sobrang expensive ng championchip more than 500t ang rent ng chip and system na yun. I already talked to championchip 4 years ago. dapat mura lang kasi masa yung running they cant afford ng mataas na reg fee
Actually I’m planning to use timing chip sa Quezon City International marathon on Feb 1 2009.

Help me to improve ang mga races.

    thnx
