Road X Trail – Postponed to Jan/Feb 2011

Tuesday, 14 December 2010  |  Race Announcements

Finishline announced that the ROAD X TRAIL series has been moved to January and February 2011:

Cycling – From December 11, 2010 to February 13, 2011, Sunday morning
Running – From December 18, 2010 to January 15, 2011, Saturday afternoon
Duathlon – From December 19, 2010 to January 16, 2011, Sunday morning

Some runners must’ve been saddened by this news.  As for me, I’m overjoyed.  No way could I fit this trail run into my busy holiday sched.  But, with the postponement, I must admit that I am seriously considering it, especially since it’ll be a good way to burn the excess calories from the holiday bingeing.  Oh, this also gives me enough time to dust off my North Face trail running shoes.  Hope to see you there!

A Note from Ton Concepcion of Condura:

Dear Runners,

We sincerely apologize for the delay in opening registration.  We are implementing an electronic registration system for your convenience and data accuracy.  This system will enable you to register at www.conduraskywaymarathon.com and pay and pick up the race kit and shirt at the Condura Skyway Marathon Registration Center in Greenbelt 3.  We also have an online payment option with delivery to your door step.  Our information technology supplier is hard at work even on this Sunday conducting final quality assurance tests to ensure the system is reliable.  They have advised us that the system will be up and running by midnight December 15.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Run BGC on 28 Nov

Tuesday, 2 November 2010  |  Race Announcements

I’m a thousand miles away and NYC Marathon is the primary race in mind (we depart LA tonight for NY…Woohoo!) yet I know I’m going to enjoy an easy run on Run BGC a couple of weeks after I arrive in Manila. I think it’s the perfect race for me to recover from the marathon, burn the extra calories from overindulging, and perhaps win a Chevrolet Cruze (with or without Ryan Agoncillo inside is fine!)

TBR Jr. Gets Serious

Sunday, 3 October 2010  |  Race Announcements

“I want to train for Southridge Run.” That’s what my son told me several days ago. Oh boy, you should’ve seen the smile on my face!

The thing is, I have no clue how to train a 9-year old.  Initially, when TBR Jr. would sign up for fun runs, we would run/walk around the village a week or two before the race. The hubby and I just wanted him to experience races without any pressure, to have fun, and, of course, to love running the way we do.  Deep inside, we hoped that he would eventually want to get serious about running.  Well, I guess it worked!

I went ahead and sent an SMS to the best person in Manila to ask about training kids for runs/triathlons: Ironwoman Ani de Leon, the coach of the Super Tri Kids and Alaska Iron Kids. She advised me that we should train him by running 1k, then 2k, and finally 3k thrice a week.  This is something we’re definitely doing…uhm, in between training for New York, that is!

Hope you can join the Southridge Run…just as our family is doing.  Proceeds from the race will be used to buy 30,000 books to be donated to public schools in Muntinlupa.  Registration is on-going.
