TNF is always a race anticipated by runners seeking new adventures in the world of running. It offers a unique experience from the typical road race and away from the concrete jungle of Manila.  Past races were at Clark, Legaspi, Cagayan de Oro, and now it’ll be at  Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. (Click HERE to read my TNF 100 Race Report last May 2009, Clark)

NUVALI

TNF at Nuvali makes the race doubly exciting for me.  I was just at Nuvali last month for our TBR Magazine shoot with Ani de Leon. I was delighted to discover this shangrila in the south developed by Ayala Land, which will be home to many families and offices in the future. It was beautiful there; the atmosphere was calm and serene, the air fresh, and the roads beckoned for us to run on them.  They say the grand plan is to provide many outdoor activities in this area, such as trail running, mountain biking, ziplining, and in the future, an area for triathlons to be staged.

– Love this area by the lake –

NUVALI TRAIL RUN COURSE – There’s a flexible trail run course from 11k, 22k, up to 50k. There are natural river trails on 2 areas with 1km section each: one even has a waterfall.

NUVALI MOUNTAIN BIKE COURSE – in case you’re an MTB enthusiast, too

Then, one can take the entire family along since, aside from eating at the many restaurants, the kids can enjoy these at Nuvali:

KOI FISH AT THE LAKE – I highly recommend you let the kids experience koi fish feeding at the 4-ha lake area. They have 8,000 koi fish in there. My friend Marga and I were amazed at all the koi going wild and crazy when we started feeding them (feed available for purchase)

Get Out and Run Fat Ass!

Monday, 4 January 2010  |  Race Announcements

Got a fat ass after Holiday bingeing?  Then, the Fat Ass Run is the perfect running event for you.

The Fat Ass Run is NOT a race; it’s a long run for everyone to burn the extra pounds without having to deal with registration or pre-race jitters.  Here’s more info for those interested:

WHAT: Fat Ass Run

WHEN: Jan. 9-10, 2009

WHERE: Clark Parade Grounds

DISTANCE: More or less 2.2.KM loop around Clark Parade Ground (yes, you read it right!)

TIME: 6, 12, 18 & 24 hour time event

START TIME: For 24 hours, the start is 8AM of Saturday, 18 hours – 2PM and the 12 hour at 8PM. This way everyone will finish about the same time (8AM) of the next day (Sunday) and thus, more festive and everyone can have a BEERday and BBQ!

WHY “FAT ASS”: Click here to read how the idea came about in the U.S.A.

Click here for more race details.

Basically, runners will run 2.2km loops, counting the number of loops they make until they reach their goal time. Runners can take a break, eat, or even sleep.

You know, running loops was never my thing, but with a good crowd, the cool weather, plus a whole lot of food around, this event sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun.  Too bad I’ll be in Cebu Marathon. No worries, I can still be a Fat Ass runner next year, if there’s a repeat.

REGISTRATION: Post your name, chosen event (time category), email addresscontact number and blog name on this LINK

Condura Run 2010 Website is Up

Saturday, 19 December 2009  |  Race Announcements

The Condura Run is always one of the most anticipated running events of the year.  It is known as THE run for runners, by runners as the brains behind the event are two passionate running brothers, Ton and Patrick Concepcion, who will stop at nothing to ensure that the race they offer is at par with the many races they’ve run themselves.

The Concepcion brothers are hands-on with race organization from conceptualization (they started sending out surveys as early as May 2009! Click here to read what most runners wished for!) down to implementation (for Condura 2009, I met Ton during set up on the eve of the race!)  So, it comes as no surprise that, as early as two months prior to race day, the website is up with all details laid out for runners to go gaga over.

Condurasite

– I found myself as an “extra” on Condura’s website! Cool! –

Just like last year, the website is one of the best race websites I’ve seen providing complete and relevant information designed in a simple, visually appealing, and easy-to-read format.

Click here to view the Condura Run 2010 – Run for Dolphins website.

My advice to all those who want to join this race:  Train NOW.  Register NOW.

See you on the Skyway on February 7, 2010!
