Bull Session 4: Longest Run before the Big Day!

The week of FEB 21 to 27, 2011 is a major week for TBR Dream Marathon runners.  Check out what Coach Jim Lafferty wrote in our TBR Dream Marathon training program…

On the Saturday of that week, February 26, 2011, we will be running BULL SESSION 4: our longest run before the big marathon day – 3 hours and 30 minutes or a minimum of 30k in our race course in our race course, NUVALI!  It will essentially be our practice run before the big day.  We are so excited for everyone!

To TBR Dream Marathoners, we look forward to seeing you at NUVALI!  Some of our volunteers—Dream Chasers and Pacers—will be there to run with us, too!  A few notes and reminders:

  • Assembly is at 3:30 a.m. in Solenad Activity area.
  • Briefing by Lit Onrubia at 4:00 a.m. and going into various groups
  • Treat this as your practice run for the marathon: eat the same pre-race meal, wear your planned marathon attire and shoes, take the same gels and sportsdrinks
  • Gatorade will be provided but bring your own hydration belts as well (the same belt you plan to use for the marathon)
  • We will NOT run the entire race course but only a portion of it.  We will run on 7km of NUVALI Blvd. and go back and forth to ensure that no one gets left behind during the entire run
  • Restrooms available at Solenad, Evoliving, and portalets provided by NUVALI on the route
  • Roads will be well lit
  • Parking available at Solenad area
  • NUVALI is kind enough to provide us with a free shuttle service from ROX, Bonifacio High Street to NUVALI and back.  It will accommodate only 24 runners.  First come, first served.  Please click HERE for full details and sign in sheet.

See you next Saturday for our Bull Session run clinic!  This is my favorite part of TBR Dream Marathon, running with the future marathoners and getting to know each one personally.  I also enjoy seeing all of you meet your batchmates and setting up training sessions amongst yourselves.  It definitely makes the journey (read: long runs) more enjoyable!

We decided to postpone tomorrow’s planned Bull Session to make way for the races this weekend.  We know many of you are joining QCIM and Nike 5k.  Our Bull Circles (talks) will resume in January 2011.

So, block your calendars next week and see you there!  We’ve invited a surprise coach to brief us on basic form and running technique.  SecondWind will be there to guide us.  Gatorade will be available for free.

To all alumni of TBR Dream Marathon 2010: We welcome your support at the Bull Sessions.  Run with us and make the future marathoners feel welcome.  Pls email thebullrunner(at)gmail.com if you wish to volunteer for Bull Session 2.

See you at the 1st Bull Session for TBR Dream Marathon 2011 this coming Saturday.

When: Saturday, October 23, 2010
Where: in front of KRISPY KREME, Bonifacio High Street (please note revised venue)
What time:

  • 5:30 am – Assembly
  • 6:00 am – Talk on Chi Walking by Lit Onrubia, certified instructor of Chi Walking and Chi Running
  • 6:40 am – Long walk (45 mins) around Bonifacio High Street

Who should attend:

  • For new runners: Start with walking to gradually introduce your body to running
  • For runners using the RUN-WALK sequence in long runs/marathons: Learn how to walk efficiently with less fatigue
  • For runners who want to maximize their walk breaks by learning how to walk properly and efficiently
  • Most especially for TBR Dream Marathon participants, long walk of 45 minutes follows your TBR Dream Marathon Training Program this week

All Bull Sessions are free and open to the public.  No need to pre-register.

Last Call for Bull Session 3 Bus Riders!

For those joining us for our BULL SESSION 3 at NUVALI on SUNDAY, May 2, 2010 (click HERE for details), we are closing sign in sheet for the free bus ride from NUVALI to ROX by 5 PM TODAY, APRIL 23, 2010. We will not accommodate late sign in.  We currently have 83 runners registered for the bus ride.

  • BUS DEPARTS ROX, BONI HIGH STREET: 3:45 a.m.
  • BUS DEPARTS NUVALI FOR ROX: 9:00 a.m.

UPDATE: Registration is now closed. We have a total of 101 runners for the bus ride.

For the BULL CLINIC:

  • Assembly area: Solenad, NUVALI
  • Run starts: 4:30 a.m.
  • Duration: 3 hours and 15 minutes or minimum of 28 km
  • Run/Walk technique will be used as in Coach Jim’s TBR Dream Marathon Training Program
  • Gatorade will provide hydration (Thanks Gatorade!) but please bring fuel belts too
  • Baggage Check in: baggage check in available at Solenad c/o NUVALI (Thanks NUVALI!)
  • We highly recommend you bring headlamps/torches and reflectorized vests
  • Bull Sessions are open to all and is free of charge
