Save the date—or shall I say dates—for TBR Dream Marathon Weekend! TBR Dream Marathon Weekend will be held on February 20 and 21, 2016 at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. For our 7th year, we’ve made it bigger and better! TBR Dream Marathon, the first and only marathon in the world exclusively for first- or second-time marathoners, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016. This year, we’ll be holding our first ever half marathon on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, which will be open to all runners. As endurance athletes, we’re trained to push beyond our limits. When it feels like we’re falling apart, we push our bodies even harder believing that our will can overcome any weaknesses. This attitude often leads to overtraining or burnout, which experts say at least 61% of runners experience in their careers. When you’re burnt out, your performance deteriorates because you pushed your body beyond its capacity to recover. Experts say it’s not so much a problem of running too much, but more of not getting enough sleep, nutrition, and recovery. (more…)

Run United 2 2015 a Success Despite the Summer Heat

Despite the intense summer heat and the crippling humidity, over 12,000 runners participated in Unilab Active Health’s Run United 2 yesterday at SM Mall of Asia featuring 5K, 10K, 21K, 32K and a special category for Persons with Intellectual & Developmental Disability (PWID). It was the 21k and 32 categories with the biggest pool of runners with 5,000 and 4,149 runners, respectively. (more…)
