Here’s the PRESS RELEASE: (Don’t ask me why they call the event a “marathon” though LOL)
Global Gateway Logistic City (GGLC) will host the very first GGLC Aerotropolis Half Marathon dubbed as “SCTEX Challenge: Run Beyond Your Limits”. The Half Marathon will start at the GGLC grounds extending to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) on January 19, 2014. An estimated 2000 participants will join the marathon composed of 3km, 5km, 10km and 21km distances.
According to Peregrine and GGLC Vice President for Sales & Marketing Jeff Pradhan, “Global Gateway Logistics City aims to showcase Clark as a premiere sports venue through our first Aerotropolis Half Marathon, similarly promoting camaraderie among sports enthusiasts of all ages in the Philippines especially in the Metro Clark community.”
Pradhan added that the Aerotropolis Half Marathon which is staged to start at the GGLC grounds targets to provide assistance to a local orphanage in Angeles City.
“The marathon will also benefit a select orphanage in Angeles City funded only by donations and individual sponsorships. This is a part of GGLC’s corporate social responsibility programs aimed at giving back to the society,” said Pradhan.
Organized by Hubble Multisport in partnership with GGLC, this aims to be the premier running event in Central Luzon by utilizing SCTEX in the course which allows participants to enjoy the scenic view of the country’s longest expressway giving them a unique and unforgettable running experience.
“The marathon course is something to look forward to. A portion of the SCTEX will be closed to traffic so runners can experience a full view of the expressway – a rare opportunity for runners. We will also have pacers for all levels for the half marathon and entertainment stations all along the route which gives a fun and exciting running environment,” said Race Director and Hubble Representative Jumbo Tayag.
There will be water stations and designated medical booth to ensure safety of the runners. Worth P70,000 cash prizes, medals and certificates are at stake. Each participant will receive a finisher’s technical t-shirt, finisher’s medal, race bib, timing chip and a loot bag.
