Boston Marathon: Touring Boston (Part 3)

SelfieSelfie at the Boston Marathon Finish Line

For those of you who don’t know, my greatest passions—aside from my kiddos, of course—are the following: running, travel, good food, and art. This means that whenever I travel abroad to run a marathon, I must fill my tummy with the best food the city has to offer (although I didn’t get to do much of that on this trip!) and I absolutely can’t go home without paying a visit to the city’s museum (lest you forget I’m a graphic designer when I’m not running LOL!)

With only six-days for the trip, with one day blocked out for the marathon, I essentially had 5 days to tour the city, while also familiarizing myself with pre- and post-race logistics (i.e., learning how to get to the starting line without being late for the race AND learning how to get back to my hotel after the race with as little walking as possible!)   (more…)

GREATESTRUN

I’ve been to quite a number of race expos already, with New York City Marathon’s expo being my all time favorite, but I wasn’t quite prepared for the immensity of Boston Marathon’s expo at John Hynes Convention Center. I was like a little girl lost in a giant candy store… and boy did I love it! (more…)

Boston Marathon: Arriving in Boston (Part 1)

1HOTEL

I woke up in my hotel room to view the Boston skyline before me.  I was in Boston!  Oh man, I really was in Boston!  This was to be a quick 6-day trip with one goal in mind: to run Boston Marathon and subsequently complete all six World Marathon Majors.  As far as I knew, I would be the first runner from the Philippines to do it. MEDAL

I am a Boston Marathon finisher! It was both heaven and hell at the same time! The weather conditions were challenging. Think pouring rain, chilly headwind, and a temperature of 5 to 8 degrees through a hilly course wearing soaked socks and clothes. Eek! Yet, it was the best race ever! I gained a deeper admiration for all the strong and fast runners that qualify to run Boston every year and finally know for myself why Boston is one of the most prestigious races in the world.

FINISHRight after crossing the finish line of Boston Marathon

Finishing Boston Marathon also completes my goal of running all six World Marathon Majors: New York, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Chicago, and Boston.  It’s been an amazing journey and I thank all my sponsors for helping me achieve this.  Thank you to Gatorade for giving me the opportunity to run Boston Marathon and New York.  Thank you to Unilab Active Health for taking me to Berlin, London, and Chicago.  Thank you to all my other sponsors: Fitness First, Specialized, Tenkiebox (Otterbox), Peak Form, and Oakley. Must Watch Video: TBR ULAH Dream Marathon 2015

Friday, 13 March 2015  |  Favorite Posts, Race Reports

I’m proud to present the official video of TBR ULAH Dream Marathon 2015. It pretty much encapsulates the essence of TBR Dream when we first conceptualised it with Jim Lafferty 5 years ago. It was about first-time runners conquering their elusive 42k dream, volunteers coming together as one to support others, and ordinary people doing extraordinary things through running and transforming their lives.

We worked through three drafts of this video before the final product. And, each time, I got teary-eyed seeing our runners cross the finish line. Prepare some tissue before you press play.

Thank you to Digitank for the awesome video!
