Registration is over and we spent the past several days finalizing our list of participants.  I’ve also been quite busy the past few days preparing our materials and shirts for batch 2015.  This is always an exciting time for us and we look forward to meeting the new Dreamers soon!

Note: Wellness Wednesday is a new regular column on TBR where, as the name suggest, I’ll be posting articles on nutrition, health, and wellness every Wednesday.  Expect articles on eating clean, recipes on healthy meals (yes, I cook healthy food now!) and green smoothies, work-life balance, positivity, and anything nutrition and wellness!  

One of my life’s mantras is this: Keep on learning.  I don’t have those three words tacked unto my office bulletin board nor do I have to jot it down as an annual New Year’s resolution, it’s just engraved on my mind and blended in with my soul.  I just live it.

For this year, Avon Philippines invites you all to wage WAR!  W.A.R. or Walk And Run against Breast Cancer, that is.  (How clever is that?!)  The run will be held on October 12, 2014 in SM Mall of Asia with a walk, 5k, and 10k distance. (more…)

August 25 is National Heroes Day in the Philippines.  It is a national public holiday, held every last Monday of August, to honor and remember the country’s National heroes, men and women in Philippine history whose acts of courage enabled the Philippines to grow as a nation. Our known national heroes are:  Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio,Emilio Aguinaldo, Apolinario Mabini, Marcelo H. del Pilar, Sultan Dipatuan Kudarat, Juan Luna, Melchora Aquino, Gabriela Silang.

During National Heroes Day, honor and salute are also given to those unknown heroes whose lives were given up for our peace and democracy.  Although there are commemorations and parades and wreath laying at shrines, etc., many of our youth no longer appreciate or know the significance of this day. Hence, HERO Foundation, through its upcoming activities, in cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, hopes to draw attention back to the importance of this day, to celebrate, with gratitude, for all our heroes.
